A rocket launch is one of the loudest man-made sounds. (It’s even louder than Uncle Frank’s snoring!) The Saturn V rockets used during the Apollo moon missions were the largest rockets ever successfully launched. However, when Apollo astronauts blasted off of the surface of the moon, their lunar module made no sound at all, due to the vacuum of space.
